Getting back into the swing of things

Today Maggie is really getting back into the swing of things, she picked a broom and swept the front porch ! I don't know why there are three other people here, each one of us quite capable of doing the job. I guess she just wants to feel more normal now that she is feeling better.
A couple of weeks ago our neighbors big tree fell down just missing a corner of our house, I was sitting in the kitchen when we heard a loud crash like a earthquake I looked out the window and saw a bunch of leaves blowing past our window HORIZONTALLY ! I ran outside there it was lying on the ground and it took down half of a tree on our lawn. The neighbors who own the house live in New York and are here for a week every couple of months . The neighborhood busybody come out to see what happened, and said he would take care of contacting the people, fine with me. Anyway The tree removal people came they looked at our tree and recommended it be taken down also because of the damage , which we did. It took them three days ! the two large ,old, trees were a lot of work ! My point of this story is , we didn't even get a call,email, nothing from the neighbors ! They are not the most friendly to begin with, but I would have thought some kind of correspondence , just of concern for our well being . How can people not have any concern ,or just plain courtesy.
The weather has been hot and sticky , so we won't be doing much outside past noon.

Hi every body, I hope you have been able to come to my blog, I haven't . How frustrating is it ? I have spent the last 45 minutes trying to get in ! Don't tell me I'm the only one, I know you all have done this to. I only have two email accounts ,three with Mags, my primary is with yahoo, and of coarse the Gmail, and Mags Gmail. Of coarse there are assorted passwords, there in lye's the problem . Side note I'm sitting here writing , with a little dribble out of the corner of my mouth, you know when you want to have a drink or something.I made Mag a juice drink this morning, blueberry's, raspberry's, strawberry's,banana, and papaya, gave it to her, she drank it up no problem,had a little left over, gave myself some in a juice glass. Started trying to write the blog, I didn't think it was that long , but, as I lifted the glass to my lips anticipating that sweet , cool , burst of fruit......... NOTHING, the liquid sat in the bottom of the glass like it was painted on, no movement ! I made it thick but that thick ?Showed Mag she laughed
so I got a spoon ate it like custard, I like to feel the little seeds bursting as I chew my juice.
Now back to get my password; is it me or does anyone else have problems copying the inane words they want you to put into the box , I can't imagine how hard it must be if you dyslexic, which after this I might be along with my oldtimers.
Mag is feeling better every day, as a mater of fact it's amazing what 70% off at Cold Water Creek will do to get a woman out of bed!
I'm sitting here watching Lulu eating Figs off our tree, buts that's another story.........

Were Back

Here's the latest news from Maggie & Me I don't know were to start, I think I'll go with the latest and go back into the last 6 months a little at a time. When we got home from Peru Mag had her scans and blood work and they all came back negative for all the cancer, she is free from that worry.
But it seems there was another problem there was a bulge in her abdomen the Doc said it was a hernia from her first operation, and that it would have to be repaired..............
Into the hospital we went ,along with our good friends Raul & Mirtha, Iris & Cholo, early one morning.

Well as the renown thinker of our time said " Golly,and Shazam" The Doctors fond Two hernias one on each side, they repaired both, the biggest with a screen ,the other sewn from the inside. The Doc's told us it would be very painful well for once he was right, she has had a lot of pain. Ten small holes and two larger , she is truly a holey person. It's been two weeks and she is up and about, still a lot of pain . Well till next time...........

This morning started early for me and Mag , actually more for Mag, I slayed in bed for another hour watching the news & weather while she took her shower and got ready to go to the doctor to have her "apparatus " (port) removed. We didn't have to be there till nine , but she was up at 7 . It's a simple outpatient procedure, they can actually do it in the drs. office but mag didn't want to do it there so her other choice was same day surgery.
She prefers to be out , which she was, it took about a half an hour for the removal and 45 min for recovery. Every thing went fine , there's a small dressing over the incision which will come off in three days . Not eating after midnight, of coarse she was hungry, and what can appease that kinda of hunger ? nothing like prim rib baked potato and salad !
There is a place close to us that has great prime rib, Martin's , it was what she needed, she only finished half but was completely satisfied, and I will get to finish the other half tonight.
I will leave with this sign of the times, It's been windy around here, leafs are blowing , blustery. I have a big green trash can that we throw our trash into for pick up, my suburban is parked next to it in the driveway , today I took out the Sunday paper and a small wicker trash can from my tv room. I opened the lid , emptied the can , put the can on the hood of my car, threw the papers in, and went back into the house. A while later I wondered what happened to the can ( this is the point) I forgot to bring it in with me , I went out and looked but couldn't find it ! I think it's a couple of blocks south of here.Such is the life.

Good day everyone, well it's finally getting warmer, up to 61 today. These are a few examples of what a freeze does to the plants. The good thing is after the leaves fall off, or taken off the plants will come back like before, these plants were like this last winter, we cut the dead parts off, and they all came back.
I want to give my sister an atta girl, she had an operation on her foot today hope she recuperates fast. Mag is almost over her cold, we went to the Dr. yesterday they want to take out the port the 25th of this month, which she welcomes. Also had a little scare , a while back she had a mammogram, it came back with some calcification's we went back today for another, the doc didn't think they were anything to worry about, so we will be going back in six months. Went to wall-mart to pick up her prescriptions ,we were coming from the doc's so she was dressed nicely , as we were walking to the door I made the comment that it's nice she dressed so stylish as we were going to a very upscale store, and a man parked heard us and busted out laughing. As we entered there was a man at one of those machines with the stuffed toys, he had two in his shopping cart , Mag can't pass up one of these things. Need less to say she and the player, were quite involved discussing the finer points of playing this game, Mag would tell "move this way" he would counter " I don't think so, hears how I do it"great fun was had by all! I gave her 50cents no results just a shrug of the shoulder.
Tomorrow is take down the decorations day, we'll see how that goes. Peace and love to all, A prayer for Haiti and all the people involved. Bob & Maggie

Winter

Winter has struck us like the road runner cartoon character ,While Coyote.
Cold ,cold, more than a two dog night, ( all we have is two dogs) It looks like we live in the Black forest, all my plants have turned black, except the ones we brought in.
Maggie is still with cold, but is improving.We've been hold up in the house for the past week, lucky for me there's been a lot of football games on tv.
Our inside Christmas decorations are still up, I won't take them down without Mag, I have a tendency to loose things like those. Not much happening, here, just squeezing orange juice, and making soup. Till next time... B0b& Mag

Were back

Good day everyone, the holidays are over, time to get back into the groove . Haven't put the decorations away yet , Mag caught a cold Saturday , so it's home made chicken soup, and orange juice, just so happens a couple of days before, we bought a whole bunch of oranges from a grower, were giving the old juicer a work out ! She's feeling much better today.
Here in Fla. we've been going threw a cold spell supposed to last a week or so, into the 20's at night and not above 50 daytime. Mag and I covered the sensitive plants, out side, if it was me I wouldn't, they come back next year anyway o well.
It must of got pretty cold last night , because the dogs kept scratching on the side of our bed , they wanted to sleep under the covers with us, at first Mag said no , but after putting them in there own bed three times she put them in the bed next to me and they went right to the bottom of the bed next to me, I love it!
I hope everyone had a good new year, we went to some friends for the holidays, and enjoyed it very much, Thanks to Steve & Ceci, and Pat and Marie, a good time was had by all ! Till next time peace and love to all.. Bob & Mag

It's getting closer

This is the first day of winter, and Christmas is getting closer. We got our care package from my sister Pat, I want to thank her for them, all were intact no crumbs. Maggie has been eating them for breakfast, lunch and dinner(me too) , she even told me to hide them, I told her it's to late now !
Last Saturday night we went to Steve & Cesie's house for a pre holiday get together with some friends, it's good to have friends like them.
Christmas we will spend with some other friends, Pat & Nena. Maggie remembers in Peru they all go to 8 o'clock mass,after that they have the traditional dinner.At 12 o'clock the children sing happy birthday to Jesus They serve a thick orange flavored hot chocolate ,and panetone, a lite fluffy cake with candied fruits and nuts. and everyone opens there gifts,this is Christmas eve, the next they go to grandmas for lunch.
May be some of you can share some of your experiences.

Good news

Hello everybody,This morning we went to church, Maggie was so excited to tell everyone about her good news she was telling anybody that would listen, we sat down in one of the pews she looked at the woman next to her and started the conversation" Do you know I had cancer ?"then she proceeded to fill them in , even showing them her port. This is how she is , she can be a very serious adult, not afraid to face the difficulties of life, but retain that child like enthusiasm ,and it's not for her own glorification ,god is in all these conversations , she always reminds them she was is gods hands.
After church we went out for lunch, it rained all day Saturday so Sunday we wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather, and the church is only a block from the ocean. So we stopped at a place across from the ocean and ate outdoors, the view was good the food not so good,kinda greasy,as in southern cooking.
I'm glad we've got Skype, as it was I had to add money to the account, needless to say Mag burned up the air to Peru, it's all good ! How's ever ones Christmas prep coming ? baking, and buying,and baking and baking I wish I had some Hunky pastries. That is my request from Santa this year.

Well today we received the best Christmas gift ever, The doctor said ,drum roll please, Maggie shows no sign of cancer ! her pet scan was negative on all counts !
We have a follow up in March just because. After the holidays Mag will have her port taken out to Mags relive . Thanks to all the prayers from everyone, this has happened .
Now we can enjoy life, without this worry.

Tis that time of year

Well I hear the sound of grunting , and frustration , from me ! How can a tiny little lite bulb get the best of a 225 pound man , it sure can, when you try to find it on a string that are all out. Women don't understand that, I would rather, and have, thrown many many a light string away, and bought new ones. After two hours of blood pressure raising, eye crossing, ranting insane fits, I quite ! Time to try the new led lite's I hear there the best if any of you have used them ,how did they work ?
Poor Mag she is SO into decorating, she wishes she could leave them up all year, we did make a concession and did get a fake tree. She starts out with " this year I'll just do a little" 5 hours later she's still at it, all tho this year she doesn't have the physical power to do as much, like they say her spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.I tell don't worry, and she says "it's the job of the women to worry "
My contribution is decorating the outside, in the past I did a lot from animated deers with waving Santas, lights, a lot. This year it's gonna be a waving Santa and a blow up balloon Santa.
Maggie got her pet scan yesterday, and we have an appointment with the doctor Thursday for the results will let you know when we get back how they were.

You may ask why? the first question is do I have to put a question mark after the why in my title? I suppose I do, but why? I don't have to put one in the above sentence.
Why do we eat so much at Thanksgiving ? is it because of the >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
FOOD
After that glorious, turcky, the tatoes, yams, and all manor of deserts, we always seem to ask the same question, Why? did I eat so much, why didn't I stop, why did I have to have that second piece of pie? Why I don't I have a few more belt holes, oh who cares ! if you can take your shoes off you can open your pant's. Thats why when you see the pictures of the dinner all the men sitting on the couch wear their shirts hanging out , and the ladies are either holding a throw pillow in there laps or standing around the deserts.
Any how I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, from the pics I've received it sure looks like it.
Mag and I were invited to some wonderful friends in Saint Augustine that's her turkey in the pic, she brined the bird and even the foil was juicy ! all the dinner was great! After, we all sat around the living room with a fire in the fire place, talking and laughing, in Fla. it's mandatory if it goes below 60 you have to have a fire.
The next day Mag and I vegged out, even tho it was my birthday we didn't do nutten, Mag baked me a cake, and found a card that she had to trim because she couldn't find the envelope.You might want to try the cake it's a angle food cake mix, with a can of crushed pineapple, juice and all mixed in that all, it's good tasting and low fat !
Maggie is feeling very good, this week she has to go for a scan to check out how effective her treatments were, but I know she has beaten the bad guys.
I'll stop for now Maggie is hovering over my shoulder trying to read this .

Turning the corner

Hi ! all ! Sorry I haven't written sooner , I won't make any excuses( but I did forget my password ) Maggie is well on her way to recovery, you know that- when a women wants to go shopping. Yep and guess what she wanted to look for ? SHOES! can I get a amen! but I must ad she also wanted to shop for some small gifts for the staff at the hospital chemo and radiation. So last Friday we went to the annual Greek festival in Daytona we've been there in the past and enjoyed it, Mag was wanting a change of direction in her food, and to test her stomach and walking around abilities. Her stomach and legs are fine but either due to the economic conditions or
our extra year on earth,( older,and more picky) we were disappointed, it wasn't as good as last year except for the grape leaves, awesome ! the two things Mag wanted most , spinach pie , and those little balls with honey, not in stock.
The next day there was a Hungarian festival also in Daytona by the way both events were held in the respective churches , about the only good thing there was the water, which we brought with us ! They had stuffed cabbage, yuk made with sourcraught ,My speel check won't work on that word try it yourself ,no tomato sauce, chicken paprikas, I should use a cook book , no chicken , no paprika, no noodles ,I guess they didn't have time to steal a chicken, that's for Pat my sis. something they called goulash , I can't describe it, kielbasa with purple cabbage not, and bread. The pastries weren't much better you got a sampler plate with a slice of Kalacs, one Kiflik, some strange looking cookies all about the size of the tip of you little finger ! O yea they had palacsinta no tast, buy they way if you want a translation or how to make any of the above , just drop a line to my sister, great cook, I have a better Idea you all are invited to Hunkyfest 2010 at my cousin Bob's this summer around July you won't want to miss the bacon fat and onion sandwiches. I'm gittin hungry, Have you ever opened a cook book and crumbs were stuck between the pages, thats a good book.
Anyway Mags is doing so good she's starting to nag me ,just kidding, every day you can really see the difference thanks to all of your prayers.

Good day everyone, not much new to report on , Mags still feeling weak and sometime nauseated. Her apatite isn't what it should be and she has a cough. We went to the doctors today , all her vitals were good,her blood chemistry is perfect, and she looks great! So we asked why is she listless ? the answer is because of the radiation, and chemo she has had , it will take a couple of weeks for a noticeable recovery. In the mean time they gave her some steroids and hydration fluids I.V. that perked her up a little bit.
Got a prescription for cough medicine ( she's in the doughnut hole , medicare, so a $5.00 script cost $111.00! ) She better use it all !!
Now for the real news, I, me, yo, trimmed the orange tree,lemon, bougainvillea, palm,and a bunch of other stuff, tied it all up in bundles so the trash guys will pick it up. I feel like a pin cushion my hands, arms and feet, have little holes all over ( I was wearing Crocks, which I quickly changed to my $5 walmart specials with the Velcro closers instead of laces ,yes I have relented to the pull of Walmart ,in our Walmart I may be the youngest person in there except for the employees, and a lot of them I'm not to sure of, this being Florida and you know what Florida is known for Oranges and old people. Most of the senior citizens, are from the New York, New Jersey area, so one must be on high alert when when pushing a cart, the people use a lot of those electric carts in the store, I would say besides not being able to see, or hear very well and most of them couldn't get a drivers license, it's a hazard to say the least,I have been flipped off a couple of times by these silver haired citizens, mostly women !

Down hill

Well today isn't to good for Mag ,she feels very week and sometime nauseated she has one more day of radiation, and one more shot for her white blood cells. All the Doctors say these next two weeks are gonna be worst, than the first 6. Now it's going to take time for her body to rid itself of the poison she has been given . They say she must rest , but it's hard for her to stop going. Mag will get better, she has the spirit, and the want to ! Love Mag & Bob

Hello every body, the time is getting short for the end of Mag's treatment she's almost done ! Marice left yesterday for Peru, some sadness of coarse but it was great to have them here. Mag hasn't been feeling 100% since it's the last week of her treatment she has had more pains then ever plus she is more tired all the time, they said this is normal. She still has that spirit tho and every one says ,including me with her short hair she really looks good, I told her she looks like a model for those mature mags. she says I only say that because I like gray hair, which I do ,which she's fought against. Hi every one I'm sorry we haven't been posting lately , we have had company from Peru, and have been very busy. Mags niece her baby boy ( he's 3) her husband, and her father in law, spent a week with us, her niece stayed a extra week, so theirs three of us here now.
Of coarse if you know Mag she was involved in going places and doing things, now she's very tired.
We went to the Dr. Monday to have her pump put on , and as is the practice they did a blood test , all was well except her white cell count was down, that's the thing that fights the bad guys, the Dr. said it is pretty standard for this to happen ,because the chemo doesn't know the good guys from the bad guys. To rectify this situation they stopped her therapy for two days, Mon. Tue., and she is receiving a shot each day.
The shot stimulates the bone marrow to produce more white cells , and as a side effect it causes bone pain and general malaise. So for the past few days she hasn't had much zip.
Her appetite hasn't been very good as of late, she says she is to full from drinking so much water! Here is a pict of her niece and her son Marice and Ignacio, he is very active and loves trains. ............Love Mag & Bob

Good morning all, first I want to thank my sister Pat Trent for the wonderful blog she put up about Maggie,LIVING ON GRACE check out her blog she has a lot of talent, Mags resting today after our past's weeks of painting and rearranging, for all you chicken lovers here are some picts of our flock. I pulled a bunch of weeds yesterday , have you ever had cramps in the back of your legs, the upper part above the knees? ouch!
Tomorrow She has to go back to have her chemo hooked up, but every week is one week closer to being done, the Doctor said she wil have to keep the port in for a year "just in case". Bye foe now M&B

Hi every body , first I want to thank everyone who have left comments , and welcome the new people, I know most of you through my sisters blog. Mags still hanging in there, she's feeling more unsettled a bit everyday , more nausea, more tired, a little more grumpy ( don't tell her I said that ) , and busier we painted the kitchen , now the garage walls cabinets, and floor, besides washing the driveway. Of coarse while doing the kitchen she changed her motif from Ducks, To Chickens, witch means more stuff for the garage !

After the weekend

Today being Monday we had to go back to have the pump put back on it usually takes a little more than a hour for that, and then rite after go down a floor for radiation which is about a half hour. Mags feeling good, eating good,looking good also no issues so far.
I power washed part of the drive way it's sorta like the southern version of snow blowing , tomorrow I hope to finish. That's it for now .

I've fallen and can't get up!

Today wasn't the official first day of fall, but here in Florida it started today, ya know how to tell ? your air conditioner doesn't come on at night ! Yep I feel like a real mid westerner this morning I went out to walk the dogs and it was in the low 70's, that will start( or is it stop ? ) the sap running ! when we got back from walking Mag asked me "how come the dogs aren't panting with their tongues hanging out ?" I opened the patio slider and showed her, oh, she said with a slight chill in her breath.
Only 22 more days of treatments , Mags still hanging in there Monday nights are usually her worst time she can't sleep because Monday when the pump is put on for the week they give her a I.V. and it has a steroid in it which the doc. says is the cause of her sleeplessness of coarse my snoring has nothing to do with it.

Week Two

Hello all, this weekend we didn't do much, Friday went to the hospital for our scheduled radiation and then went to the chemo place, it's on the second floor of the same hospital. This was a new experience for Mag . She had her pump taken off for the weekend, it hurt a little but not to much, of coarse after slamming the tube in the car door, and the sometime comic actions of forgetting she was attached , she did pretty well the first week.
Monday we go back for the reverse process, one week down five more to go !
Had some friends over Saturday for lunch and played Rummy Cube, I made a Spanish Tortilla which has onions, red and green peppers potatoes , Asparagus and sausage a little Parmesan cheese and of course 12 eggs you make it in a big pan cook it on the burner and finish in the broiler not bad , I was the big loser, didn't win a game, of coarse Mag didn't help you know her, she had to help the other players ! "you missed this one, here do this do that, are you sure that's all you have?" by the time it got around to me I couldn't do much, oh well.
Sunday was a do nothing day , Mag needed her rest after talking with ALL her friends on the phone who called her. I had some wireless speakers I hooked up to my laptop and put them on the patio there's so much more to listen to then the radio, plus were live sometimes I can get 4 stations, it's working well. Thats it for now keep well....................B&M

Who is that ?

Who is that that woman ? some say she is love and compassion, some say she is simple and naive , I say she is brave and beautiful inside and out. Yes she is one of a kind, how many women would let these picts. be published in the first week of this journey ? Today we went outside without a hair piece what you see is what you get.
If it were me I would be inclined to hide the way I look, not Mag we went to a restaurant before the hospital, and once in the hospital she was asking everyone about her new hair style ( short).
Mag is beginning to feel the effects of her treatments , today she is a lot more tired, not so much pain , just lethargic. Tomorrow is the last day for this round she will have two days off !
Mag made some chicken salad yesterday, and I ate the whole thing ! it was soooooo goooood !
Now it's 6:30 in the evening and Mag is painting the dogs are snorting, and I'm your know where...................... Love B & M

A ton of bricks

Today it hit me like a ton of bricks, just what were in for , sure I new how serious her condition is, sure you feel bad,sad,sorry, compassion, but when you start to really realize this isn't a cold and it won't be easy,and maybe just maybe you have a chance of losing , well it puts a big hole in my heart . Of coarse I feel sorry for myself , but above all there aren't many people like Maggie in this world , she is truly Gods ambassador .
Her treatments aren't painful or causing distress, she is eating well, feeling good, and as social as ever. But the chemo is starting to cause hair loss, and bless her she is not complaining or depressed by it. The hospital has what I call a wig room that is staffed by volunteers it's full of wigs and hats and scarfs and a lot of that kinda stuff, and its all free thru the cancer society watching Mag was delightful and alarming she was like a kid in a candy store, uninhibited full of wonder , which styles which colors, do you like this one? to her it was almost normal, to me it opened my eyes , this for real!
Well she picked two of different styles and colors I think they both look good, but I kinda like the blond one . Right after we left we went to cut her hair now it'd shorter then mine, and still doesn't look bad.
I know this sounds unfair but I checked with Mag and she said it's O.K. with her. I would like everyone to leave a comment which one you like.

Greetings from some time raining, mostly sunny Florida. Got up about 7:30 this morning to the sounds of booom booom , I thought it was the house across the street, it's under construction, but I knew by the tug on my side of the bed it was Lulu, and she was scared (always when there is thunder) she is the one who is the independent , and spends much of her time outside , hunting, frogs ,lizards, butterflies, things that go bump in the night.Once she brought a Tortuga like a turtle but doesn't live in the water , lives in Burroughs in the ground. She is affectionate but not too much , she'll come in and say high but goes back out, anyway when it rains she wants to cuttle up in my lap she shivers and is scared I like it as much as she does, so we spent about an hour watching tv this morning.Good stuff !
Had a 10:00 a.m. doctors app. for her first chemo treatment,the first time with new doc, it took about 1 hour, they gave her anti-nausea , and potassium, IV since it's the first time. She now has a pump attached to her port we will have to learn how to cope the tape that holds it on her port bothers her the most no I think having to drink 8, 8oz of water a day is worse. Later we went to radiation doc this took about 1/2 an hour, no pain or discomfort, Mag says so far so good ! we will see as time goes by this will continue for 6 weeks once a day for rad. twice a week to put on the pump and take off the pump Monday and Friday.
Her painting is going forward, it's her enjoyment, and makes time pass for her, as for me she asks me every 20 minutes "how does this look ?" the only draw back is she has to slow her down, she wants to Finnish to fast to start another, this week end she spent $70.00 on supplies. Well that's all from the left bank .

Today we went to the radiation doc for our first visit , It didn't involve any radiation we just had to go for a prodcedure that kinda suprized me Mag said she thought they told her she had to be tatooed , well shur enough when she came out of the office she was saying that really hurt ! she lifted her blouse and showed me her new tat. It's permanent she got them last week after her scan just in marking pen now she can ride a motor cycle but can't wear a bikini ! I told her she ought to get her eyes done while she was there she declined.
There there for land marks to aim the radiation which we will began next Monday some of her girl friends took her out for lunch which she needs well that's about for it now everyone enjoy your weekend ,I can feel the change in the season! It doesn't get hot as fast, Love to all B &G

Today is the day for cleaning the house we have some one come in to help, but why do woman clean before the lady comes? Yesterday we went to the nail place to get Mags toenails tuned up , when she was in the hospital everyone could recognize her by her toes !
Our a/c quite working yesterday so we called to have it fixed, the guy came this morning
there was a bunch of ice on the coils, he said it was because of a bad valve that he has to order, but he did get it working for the time being.
My pictures are of a non personal nature , mag didn't think it was appropriate of me to post her in a night gown , it wasn't her I was posting about anyway ...............

Today is a slow news day so I'll start with my doctors report my eyes are healthy and haven't changed since last year, yea!
today Mag and I made lunch together, I made a roast in the crock pot with veggies ( carrots, celery,onions, mushrooms, in a red wine sauce, ) a pot of mashed baby new potatoes with the skins ,sour cream and butter why not! Maggie made a pot of rice she's good at that a real Peruvian can't eat without rice.
After we cleaned up Mag went for a nap as she should.
The lawn fertilizer guy came this morning so the dogs couldn't go out for two hours there legs were crossed( all four of them) but there good dogs no piddle puddles or toosie roles anyway as some one famous once said Tha Tha THa Thas all folks.............................Love ya B&M

Hey All,
Today started out with a phone call at 8 a.m. we are RETIRED!!! it was the Dr's. office reminding us of our appointment at 1:30 for a scan. Sooooooo needles to say Mag wasn't to thrilled ( I think it set her mood for the day she still isn't to sure of her about the up and coming treatments) Anyway we lolygaged all morning until I reminded her what time it was she finely got in gear and got ready to go so we went...........

I'm still learning how to do this blog thing so excuse the silly writing, got the scan Mag has ink lines on her stomache that are covered with tape so when we go to the Drs. they can have land marks they are covered with tape she has to be careful not to take a shower with the water directly on her tummy.

She has lost about 25 lbs. which is ok the good part is the Drs. said she can eat anything she wants all she wants, the not so good part is she has NO APATITE!!!!!! whaaaaaaaaat the hey!!!!!! So we went out to a deli because she was hungry it was our first time and we were plesently suprized all was good, anyway all she could eat was a half a samwich and part of a great carrot cake , but she ate all the pickles!!!, they do have great pickles, the name of the place is D.J.Pickles.

Starting over

Today we went to the radiation doc and he is very nice besides he speaks Spanish, tomorrow we will have a scan done to determine the movement of Mags intestines, turns out the newest thing in a rad. machine that is in sinc with ones breathing being ,more effective at hitting the spot where it's needed the most and not going where it's not ( who knew) The rad. treatment will go on for 6 weeks 5 days a week straight unless there is a problem.
The oncologist is going to use a pump about the size of a small cassette player ( the Spanish word for pump is bomba and firemen are bomberos that's for Harold ) it will be on a long tube so she won't be restricted to much. The nurse will hook it up to her port Monday and take it off Friday for the weekend, all this will take place along with the rad.

Today it's raining ,of coarse it's the rainy season in fla. still warm 90+ but not so bad inside (77 with the a/c). I usually sit out side on the patio with the fan on , which is kinda nice, and read the morning paper and coffee, while listening to Neal Bortz on the radio,( I'm a closet conservative) . I like to see the big trees and bright flowers, lots of butterfly's , some times the dogs will try and catch a squirrel , our squirrels are gray and not as pretty as the ones up north.
Maybe it's Freudian But I enjoy the rain, first you hear it, gentile and soft, sometimes when the sun is still shining. Sometimes it comes on strong so dense you can't see the neighbors house , other times great thunder and lightening Mag makes me come inside the one dog Lulu runs for the closet or wants to be held shaking , and whimpering, Dolly could care less, it hardly inturups her laying on the coach nap .
Mag is enjoying painting she likes colors as you can see, we cook together, she does a little house work, and is feeling better. Love to all Bob

Mag came home last Thursday she was kinda week so she stayed in bed for two days, Monday we had a nurse come in ,along with a physical therapist , she has begun moving around, and we even went out to eat at a place called Three Bananas, along with a little drive. nice day ! Wednesday we had two Drs. appointments the first was with her new Oncologist, the second was a follow up with the family doc The new doc is a very nice young woman,she layed out a plan that includes chemo and radiation five days a week. Three days chemo two rad. lasting app. 5 to 7 weeks. Mag will have a pump for the chemo a little device that you can hang on you waist and even take off for a shower. That way she won't get such a large dose all at once.to begin in about two weeks.
Today she is up and around even started painting , runs out of gas but every day is better...............Bob

We came home yesterday afternoon, she's weak but is over what ever caused her visit to the hospital. We got a ton of meds. and there will be a home care nurse come today. Now the work begins she won't start her new chemo and new doctor for about two weeks.

Today you can tell she is getting much better, still hasn't got much of a apatite and has aches and pains all over. They haven't found out where her infection was they kinda think it was in her port, but since she was on antibiotics before she was admitted it might of squed ( forgive the spelling) the results. There taking her off the iv's and starting oral meds if she does well they will likley sent her home in two days !

Today is Saturday and things are better, Mag is far from ready to dance but she doesn't look or feel as bad as yesterday. Still fighting a fever, and a cough, haven't found out what is causing the infection, testing goes on. She's eating a little more, and walking around a little. Can't say enough about the Drs. and overall care she is being given, but part of that is Mag she never met a stranger.More to come thanks everyone........................Bob

Not so good news

Well Tuesday Mag got her second chemo therapy and it was down hill from there,she came home and was nauseated with chills and fever, Wednesday she ran a fever and had aches and pains, Thursday her fever was much higher and head ache with pain through her body.
We went to the E.M. and was admitted,our hospital not where she has chemo, they don't know what the infection is yet, there doing many cultures, cat scans , mean while she feels really bad.
her eyes are swollen , she just doesn't feel good. We have discussed about if it's worth all she is going thru to "get better" we will change Drs. and hospital, she feels comfortable were she at.
Then we will see were we go from there . Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Friday fever

Well today was the first time we had a mini hiccup in our chemo treatment, each day after the first session it got a little worse, till Friday afternoon Mag got the chills and was running a little fever ( 100.5) The instructions were to call the Dr. if this happened. Which we did the nurse was very concerned and told us to go to the emergency room NOW! She said that I should be very emphatic and not take no , or please wait from anyone in the ER she even gave me a number of some one that would make sure Mag was taken care of fast.
Well I didn't need to call anyone we walked into the ER told them our problem and were taken directly to a room, before registering or any thing, there were nurses waiting and a Dr. close by , they took x-rays blood was drawn and exam. by the Dr. IV started. The results are that Mag has some pneumonia like symptoms and the beginning of an infection in her lungs. She was administered IV antibiotics and watched for about an hour ( also did a EKG ) Her temp went down the Dr. gave us two antibiotics to take home and told us to force fluids and monitor her temp.
She is resting now her temp is still a little elvated,and she has pain from her operation. I have the highest prays for the hospital staff, everything was done fast and to a high standard. Till next time thank you all.........................Bob

This is why my address is what it is, my dogs are Dolly and Lulu and the yellow truck is a present from Maggie to speed up my recovery when I was sick.
Maggie was feeling good this morning,but toward the afternoon her body was telling her there is something going on, we made oxtail soup,and the smell kinda made her a little queeze, but she was able to rise above it without any medicine, tomorrow her niece is coming from Chicago for a few days.
The big boomers are starting (thunder) as they do in the summer in Florida, till next time sweet dreams to all, ..........................Bob

First day of chemo

Got up this morning at 6:30 to be at hospital for 9:00 a.m . app. at the clinic Mag told me she reached for the alarm clock and her port had twisted, (it's in her right upper chest, under the skin) and she pushed it back, just when she was getting over the pain of it being put in!
Saw the doctor and he confirmed it soooo we had to go back to the hospital and have it turned over, just her luck she had breakfast and couldn't have a anesthetic so they did it with a local, it hurt. That over we went back to the clinic got hooked up no problems, turns out our treatment only lasts an hour,some are there for 8 or more ! thats a good thing ! Home now drinking LOT"S of fluids not feeling to bad ..........

Friday Mag and me went to Halifax med. center, she had a port implanted into her chest for her coming chemo. therapy. Some of you may know she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer ,was operated on in may for removal of half of her pancreas , which is a good thing.
Right now she has pain from the implant, but her spirits are high, will continue to update.
